The excursion includes a visit to The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust which is followed by a visit of Karen Blixen Museum before lunch. After lunch, visit to Giraffe Center before being dropped off at the hotel.
The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is located in Nairobi National Park. This nonprofit trust was established in 1977 by Daphne Sheldrick shortly after the death of her husband who served as an anti-poaching warden of Tsavo National Park. The Orphanage is well known globally for the rescuing and rehabilitation of baby elephants. They also handle veterinary cases and run mobile de-snaring operations.
Karen Blixen Museum serene environment that seems to belong to the past, surrounded by a tranquil garden and indigenous forest which was once the centre piece of a farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills owned by Danish Author Karen and her Swedish Husband, Baron Bror Blixen-Finecke. The museum gained its international acclaim with the release of the movie 'Out of Africa', an Oscar winning film based on Karen's autobiography by the same title.
Giraffe Centre was built in 1979 as a rehabilitation project to rescue the endangered Rothschild giraffe. The first giraffes at the Centre were called Daisy and Marlon. The Centre is a creation of African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (A.F.E.W. Kenya) and its current main purpose being to educate Kenyan school children and youth on their country's wildlife and environment, as well as give local and international visitors an opportunity to come into close contact with the world's tallest species, the giraffe.
